Managed Future Funds

Monday, August 25th, 2008

A managed future, by their very nature, is a diversified investment opportunity. Commodity trading adviser’s have secured the ability to trade in over 150 different markets worldwide. Many managed futures funds can further diversify by using several commodity-trading adviser’s with different trading approaches.

The benefits of managed futures funds within a well-balanced portfolio will include:

* Opportunity for reduced portfolio volatility risk

* Potential for enhanced portfolio returns

* Ability to profit in any economic environment

* Opportunity to participate easily in global markets

One of the primary benefits of adding a managed futures funds component to a diversified investment portfolio is that it just might decrease portfolio volatility risk. This risk reduction contribution to the portfolio is probably due to the low to slightly negative correlation of managed futures funds with equities and bonds. One of the key tenets of Modern Portfolio Theory, as developed by the Nobel Prize economist Dr. Harry M. Markowitz, is that more efficient investment portfolios will be created by diversifying among asset categories with a low to negative correlations.

While managed futures funds may decrease portfolio risk, they can also at the same time enhance overall portfolio performance. For example, adding managed futures funds to a traditional portfolio improves the overall investment quality. This is proven by an extensive bank of academic research, beginning with the a study of Dr. John Lintner of Harvard University, in which he writes that “the combined portfolios of stocks (or stocks and bonds) after including judicious investments… in leveraged managed futures funds accounts show substantially less risk at every possible level of expected return than those portfolios of stocks (or stocks and bonds) alone.”

Managed futures commodity trading adviser’s can take advantage of price trends. They can buy futures positions in anticipation of a rising market or they can sell futures positions if they anticipate a falling market. For example, during periods of hyperinflation, hard commodities like gold, silver, oil, grains, and livestock tend to do good, as do the major world currencies. During deflationary times, managed futures funds provide an opportunity to profit by selling into a declining market with the expectation of buying, or closing out the position, at a lower price. Commodity trading adviser’s can use strategies employing options on managed futures contracts that allow for profit potential in flat or neutral markets.

The establishment of global futures exchanges and the accompanying increase in actively traded contract offerings has allowed commodity-trading adviser’s to diversify their portfolios by geography as well as by product. For example, managed futures funds accounts can participate in at least 150 different markets worldwide, including stock indexes, financial instruments, agricultural products, precious and nonferrous metals, currencies, and even energy products. Commodity trading adviser’s as a result, have many opportunities for profit potential and risk reduction among a broad array of non-correlated markets.

What Is The Best Way To Distribute Your Press Release

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

Newsworthy press releases will help your business. What if you could also get traffic and better rankings as well? I have outlined some very simple steps to get the results your business deserves.

There is a standard for press releases, and if used properly is pretty simple and will accomplish much. You start by writing your press release on something newsworthy such as a new product launch, announcement of new services, awards, or other items of interest.

Press Release Distribution

Usually, you would run your press release through the proper channels and send it out over the wire, and it is complete. If it is a really good release, it gets picked up on various sites and channels and could possibly result in media calls.

News worthy press releases that are optimized with keyword rich content has proven to be invaluable to businesses. If properly optimized, press releases can add the potential for increased traffic to your site from clients who are searching for your product and business, provide improved rankings overall, and increase your chances of additional press. Not to mention the increase in revenue due to additional traffic.

An optimized press release may even enhance back links (links back to your site). Press releases will also increase your brand awareness.

Once you have release the press release over the wire, make sure you also publish it on your website as well. This will give you double the impact. Not only is this good for optimization purposes, it is a good PR strategy as well.

Once released over the wire, optimized press releases will help you get ranked in News search engines such as Google or Yahoo news. Millions of visitors, especially journalists searching for a good story, search Yahoo as well as Google News daily.

Since it is updated with fresh, new press releases and articles that are less than 30 days old, the right targeted audience will find your relevant press release with keyword rich copy.

Editors looking for new information for a story just might contact you as a good source, or for fresh content, only based on your press release being properly optimized with relevant content.

However, it is important to make sure the press release is well written, to the point and easily understood. Avoid all the hyperbole and jargon that outsiders will probably find hard to understand.

Targeting your audience is so important. As touched on earlier, optimized press releases will also offer the benefit of targeting the right audience. Effective press releases will build brand awareness with your customers, attract the attention of new ones and continue to build your reputation and business.

Optimized press releases will also have the added benefit of driving potential clients to your business. Your chosen keywords will drive traffic to your site and build market exposure for your product and services.

Kids Shows Or Side Entertainment?

Sunday, August 10th, 2008

When considering hiring an entertainer for a children’s party, you should think about the context in which you want the entertainer to perform. There are two main ways to feature a children’s entertainer:

Kids shows. This would be having the party stop at a certain point for the kids to gather around the entertainer for a scheduled performance. Many times this would be the case for a magician or a singer – the audience is seated around the performer as they put on a kids show. This type of presentation would be appropriate for smaller groups of kids. The children would then all be in one spot for 45 minutes to an hour, which is highly desirable for many parents.

Side entertainment. Having performers as side entertainment means that they are a part of the party, not a featured event of the party like a kids show. Side entertainers may include a clown who would walk around and goof off with the kids, or a face painter who would have a station where kids could get their faces painted and then run off. This type of presentation works well with very large parties where assembling all the kids may not be as feasible.

Either way, discuss this with your scheduled entertainer and get their opinion on the subject. After all, he or she would know better than anyone!

What to give

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

Cashmere shmashmere: instead of getting your loved ones the same old gift for birthdays, holidays, congratulations or thank you’s, consider that although you know them well, the thoughtlessness of your gift may make them feel a ‘no thank you’ rather than a ‘thank you’ in the inner dialog of your gift’s recipient. The truth is, most of us can’t be clever and thoughtful about every gift that we give. We constantly resort to old standbys, thoughtlessly giving those little luxuries to people that we think they want but won’t buy for themselves – perfumed soap, wool sweaters, fishing gear… There’s no reason to be ashamed by this, either. Most of us don’t know enough about others’ interests to give them what they really want: hence the recent surge in gift cards as a way to defer gift giving to the recipient’s choice so that he or she may get whatever it is that they fancy.

But there are some gifts that have universal appeal – gifts that spoil rotten with their sensuality: with how beautiful they are, how good they taste, and how decadent they are; gifts that assemble the best products in any given area of interest: food, wine, flowers, or sport. Though you may not be an expert in any of the areas that the person you’re giving a gift to cares about, there are people out there who are, who are more than happy to lend their expertise for a small premium over the price of the products they buy, assemble, and package beautifully for the enjoyment of whoever it is that you choose to ship them to.

Gift baskets offer a great option to those looking to give thoughtfully and easily. The best online gift basket retailers will have a large selection of baskets running the gamut of interests from wine to fruit to golf and more. They also take care of packaging and shipping for you – always a headache – and the result is an appearance of plenty for a cost that’s a lot lower than you might expect. Someone close to me recently received a gourmet gift basket from a friend for his birthday and I was so shocked by the quantity and quality of stuff in it that I couldn’t believe – when I checked the price online – that it was only slightly more than it would have cost to get all the components separately from the cheapest sources online. So in this writer’s view, you really can’t go wrong with a gift basket if you’re looking to give great gifts.

Arranging A Children’s Party With Entertainers

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

Kids’ parties can be memorable experiences for everyone involved. Nothing puts a smile on a parent’s face more than watching their son or daughter have the time of their life with their friends. Imagine how much more fun your child would have if there was a magician or clown there to keep the kids’ attention for an hour or two? Hiring a children’s party entertainer can add something extra to a child’s party, but how do you go about arranging one?

First, ask around. If your friends or family have ever hired a children’s party entertainer, you should talk to them about their experience. Like any business, referrals are the strongest method of marketing, and you should take full advantage of that. Talk to them about who they hired: how much did it cost, what did the entertainer do, how did the kids enjoy it, etc. Getting that kind of information ahead of time can really benefit you in making your decision.

If you don’t know anyone who has hired a children’s party entertainer, then you may want to talk to an agency. Having an agency provide your entertainer can mean that you might pay a little more, but you will get a professional entertainer who knows the ins and outs of the craft – and generally will be more reliable. On top of that, if your children’s party entertainer falls ill, and agency can make sure a suitable replacement is provided.

When choosing entertainment, make sure you factor in just how many kids will be there, and their ages. Kids that are older than 10 will most likely not want a clown. If there are a lot of kids, you may want to hire two or more entertainers to work the crowd. Talk with the entertainer ahead of time and arrange some sort of goodie bag or souvenir for the kids to take home as a great reminder of the fun they had.

Make sure you get a contract or letter detailing the scope of the job and description, along with payment details and a cancellation policy. Covering those details may help you avoid some headaches later if there is confusion.

By providing a children’s party entertainer, you add a little more magic to a party that a child will remember for many years to come.
